Do is be

Our purpose is to design a world that supports children to get on with what they do best - play. We acknowledge this play as serious work, essential to every child's development and one of the joys of everyday life.

Good design & craftsmanship

Our inspiration comes from many places. From work wear and uniforms to Inuit, Native American and peasant clothing — all functional, simple and robust. From Bauhaus philosophy and Scandinavian design to the pioneers of modernism and teachings of Waldorf and Montessori.

Honest raw materials

We work only with honest raw materials, re-connecting child and nature. We love anything that continually improves with age and wear; that's what we look for, materials that get better with time.

Eco-consciousness

Our hides are sourced in Scandinavia from ethical farms that practice respectful animal husbandry. They are naturally vegetable tanned in Italy and are chemical-free. Every Play is Work piece is 100% child-friendly and made in London. Hardwearing, durable and easy to clean, our garments need minimal washing - saving water and making life easier, too. All Play is Work pieces are made to last.

Made in England

Our choice to manufacture in London is simple; we want to be involved every step of the way. We work with local craftsmen, with skills and expertise drawn from long-standing family tradition. Each garment is cut, sewn and finished by hand in East London.
